A Plethora of Happenings :)

So the juicing cleanse didn't go well.  I did okay until about 4:30pm that Saturday when I made a green juice for snack/lunch.  It was disgusting and I was starving anyway so my stomach won the battle and I ate chili instead.  But it was worth it lol!  I have decided that since I love food so much, I cannot rid my self of it completely.  I have been drinking roughly one fresh juice drink a day and I'm loving that.  I've cut my soda intake dramatically and have increased my fruit and vegetable intake which was the ultimate goal.

So, to catch you up on my life.  My son had bronchitis over this past weekend.  A call to his doctor, a trip to the ER, and 4 medications later, he is finally starting to show some improvement.  He was able to return to daycare today which makes my life a lot simpler.

We got a new couch, I began talking to an old friend again, and classes for the semester are well underway.  I've not had to pull my hair out or binge drink due to stress (not that I would binge drink, but I haven't even had wine since classes started back up!!)

I got Season 1 of the Big Bang Theory!! Score!!! So now, I just need seasons 2 & 3 and I'm caught up.  Until season 6 comes out... I'm so excited!  I won't watch any of the new episodes until I get caught up on all the current ones so I'm all outta whack!  But Sheldon & Amy Farafowler crack me up to no end.

I've got all sorts going on these days, what with work, school, raising a soon-to-be two year old, and now this new Bible study starting up at the BCM... I'm so ready for that as well.  The first page I received from the book has challenged me to find quiet time every single day.  I don't do that nearly enough (or at all really) so I'm definitely ready to give that a go.

What have you all been up to??

Holy Applejuice Batman!

So yesterday was payday--naturally, I spent a good chunk of my wages on a juicer!  But I was able to get it for $67 on sale (reg. $99)!  Score!  It's the Bella 13694 Juicer, Extractor Deluxe bought at Macy's!  And they even gave me a really awesome stick on handle to carry the box!  Double score!!

I pulled some random concoction out of my rear for my lunch-time snack.  Of course, I was still hungry so I had to eat some pizza rolls as well.  Decided I would wean myself into the juicing cleanse slowly.  And that's not a bad idea.

My first juicing concoction was this:
2 carrots
2 stalks celery
a handful of grapes
2 radishes
1 tomato
1 clove of garlic

It was of course orange in color (I wish I had taken a picture of it) and tasted most definitely like veggies!  It was somewhat bland, but I was able to drink it over the course of 2-3 hours at work.

After returning home from the day's events, I decided I wanted to give the juicer another go.  So I washed and de-stickerized 1 large red apple, 1 large green apple, and yet a smaller green apple.  Best apple juice I've had in my entire life.  Not joking AT ALL!  It had just the perfect sweetness to tartness ratio and now I'm more excited than before about starting the cleanse (officially starting it in the morning)!

I've decided to save myself the stress of figuring it all out tomorrow, so I've prepared my "meals" as they're called ahead of time so all I have to do is pop the ingredients into the juicer and voila!  I have also consulted the Reboot with Joe website for more information.  I'm by no means a pro (or anything remotely close to novice at this point) but I'm learning more with each new adventure!!

PS: Not sure how much (if any) weight I'll lose while doing this, but for the record, my current weight as of January 11, 2013 is 142 lbs.  Hopefully I will have lost something before Monday morning rolls around :)

Inspiritors? #8-12

As I have only done the first 7 of 26 people that have inspired me so far or impacted my life in some way, I must now add to the list.  Again, these are in no certain order.... who has time for that anyway?

Sweeet Stepdaddy Floyd: (had to start with a Jeff Dunham reference because he's just that awesome)  Floyd has been the best stepdad anyone could ask for.  He for sure keeps me on my toes.  I never know from one minute to the next whether I'll be peeing my pants from laughter (as we share the same odd sense of humor) or wearing my freshly brewed hot coffee because he scared the crap out of me while I mind my own business.  He works his tail off constantly and still has time to go hunting so we can have deer meat all year long!  What a guy!

Courtney (awesome lady):  Courtney has helped me realize that there will be d-bags and there will be yet more d-bags.  She knows my crazy side, tells me how it is (or how it should be rather), and suffers when I do.  Really, the laughter that radiates from her is just a cover of the deep sadness she feels for me, lol!

My Grandma: I love my grandma with all my heart.  She will do anything for anyone that treats her right.  She will drop everything for a chance to be with those she loves.  I simply hope that when I grow old, I can possess some of my grandma's amazing qualities.

Jared:  This guy's a character and a half.  He knows my flaws... and let me tell you, there are many.  He is straight with me though most of the time and that's exactly what I need.  Jared has the ability to spark my passion for Christ when my flame has whithered away.  He's the kinda guy one might go to when they have no desire to go home after a night on the town??  He will sober ya up real quick cuz you have to think so much about what comes outta his mouth... Idk lol... he's worth keepin around though for whatever reason.

Mike:  My trainer.  My friend.  My outspoken politics-talking trainer-friend lol.  He is another that will do anything for anyone letting himself suffer in the process.  And it doesn't hurt that he lets girls beat him with sticks/blades :)

7 of 26 Inspirations (8 and on will follow soon enough)

Since I'll be turning 26 this August, I have decided to write a post (or 2 or 3) discussing the 26 people who have inspired me the most thus far in my life.  These people are in no way conclusive and are not in any order (other than random, lol).  As Kayden is my reason for being, my reason for all I do, I won't include him in this list.  He trumps all at this point, but others have inspired me in specific areas and I can't thank them enough!

1. My Mom!  She has been my support through everything... even when I was at my worst!  She raised my sisters and I as a single mom since day one.  She has never shoved her sacrifices for us down our throats.  She is over-protective, emotional, and extremely loving.  Despite her flaws, I would not change a single thing about her.  My mom has been dealt a rough hand and refuses to give up.  She will do anything and everything to see her children and grandchildren smile.

2. Older sister, Sharon!  When we were younger, I was always mad that she was on the phone... I rarely wanted to use it, but when I did.... she was on it!  She was always willing to step in and defend me when others picked on me or were mean to me.  Once, when we went to the doctor's office to get shots, she threw a fit because the nurses were about to hurt her little sisters.  Even at such a young age, she always stood by us!  And now that we're adults, that hasn't changed.  She is constantly encouraging me to be better and not settle for something I don't deserve.  My sister is my go to gal when it comes to parenting and familial happenings!  I would be lost without her!

3. Younger sister, Alexis!  Alexis and I constantly fought as children.  I don't know how many things we've thrown at eachother and said to eachother.  I said some pretty horrible things to her and still feel guilty about that.  Although I can't take them back, I can make sure it never happens again!  Alexis is the youngest of my mom's daughters and is by far more mature than I was at her age.  She is an amzing woman, will make a great wife to Stephen, and will eventually be a wonderful parent (hopefully she'll have kids at some point, lol)!

4. My Uncle Bob!  He has always been able to make us laugh.  He refuses to let us disrespect our mother.  He has been an excellent role model and the best uncle any gal could ask for.  He goes above and beyond to put smiles on our faces!

5. Roger Bear!  Although I've known him less than 2 years, this man inspires me to be a better Christian.  You can imagine my skepticism of the Christian world as I am a single parent, never married.  Despite my continuing sin, Roger shows love and compassion like no other!  He makes me heart smile :)

6. Rose Bear:  This woman is the ultimate wife!  Creative and crafty, awesome in the kitchen, and not saying an unkind word about anyone.  I aspire to become 1/2 the woman Rose is!!

7. Liz Gentry has got to be the sweetest young lady I've ever met!  She is always willing to give... whether that be time, talent, kind words, or an ear!  Liz is definitely one of a kind!  I strive to be the sweet-hearted person that dear Liz is!
